Our Home

WELCOME TO OUR HOME!

Here are some before and after shots of our home. We've only been here since December 2011, so there's a lot more to do, but I figured we could still share our progress so far!

Entry

I am totally loving our Chevron Stripes!
My Mom's demilune table was beyond repair in it's wood state, and I thought it would be fun to  try out our chalk paint recipe, and add some color
We also knew we wanted to paint the doors, and finally decided that black was the way to go.

I love how the details are so much clearer now that the table's painted!

Dining Room

This is the only real before shot of the dining room that I could find. It isn't the best angle, or photo, but it does the job of showing what we started with. An empty room with one very red wall.

So far, we have painted the pillar, and accent wall, hung the blinds and curtains. We hung the chandelier, our giganto mirror and some art. We brought in our table and hutch (mostly just basic moving in stuff)
I wish I would've taken a photo of the table base. This table has been in my family for many generations, and it has a beautiful claw foot pedestal!

We painted the hutch.

We still need to paint the rest of the walls and the column. I am either going to embellish the current curtains, or make some new ones with some more oomph. While this room makes it very obvious what my favorite color scheme is, I think it's a little bit over kill in here.

I would also like to eventually make some slipcovers for the chairs, I know what I want it's just a matter of getting on it. I want short (probably white) slipcovers with a short pleated skirt. I don't know why, but I am so intimidated by slipcovers.

Living Room

WOW! this room has gone through a pretty major transformation, what a difference a few gallons of paint makes. we need to repair and paint the railing on the stairs, and figure out a game plan for the fireplace, but so far this room is SO good. I am 100% happy with the color choice in here.

There are a few changes to the living room, but I haven't had a chance to photograph the whole room yet.

We replaced the painting over the couch with some new botanical prints.

We also replaced the rug with a smaller, better quality one. I love our hardwood, and I wanted to see more of it. I love a great deal, so I was thrilled to find this one on clearance + 75% off at rugsusa.com

Take notice of the amazing grey ceiling color. I'm so glad we just went with it, and didn't second guess ourselves. We got five gallons of it, and will be using it throughout most of the house. I love the way it makes the crown "pop"

Kitchen

It still needs some paint, and a few more "homey" touches, but it's on it's way. Here are a few before shots.

Here's the after! SO much better!

Sorry I didn't put the dishes away for you!

Master Bath

We are starting to make some progress in here, but we still have a lot more projects left.

I am so relieved to have all traces of that blood red gone!

We recently found out that the previous owners had also used this color in the master bedroom, but most of it was covered by the wall-to-wall mirrors they plastered all over the place. Can we all say cheesy love den. EEEWWWW!!! I am so glad they had to redo the back wall in our bedroom to remediate a mold issue (before we ever saw the house), I am good at seeing potential, but I'm not sure I could have looked past all that mess. Don't get em wrong, I like red, but this one is awful, and the thought of having it reflected all over the place makes me a little bit nauseous.

That's what we've gotten to so far, but there is much more to come so be sure to check back often!

You can see some more of our Living and Dining Rooms in our Easter Home Tour

To give you an idea of how things are laid out, here are some sketches I drew of the first and second floors

This is the aerial view of our home. It's the one outlined in red.
