We are the Barkanics, I'm Lauren and I'm 27, Mike is 30. We have a 4 year old daughter who makes us laugh, a LOT. Mike is a painter by profession and I am a full-time mom who is willing to admit that I am majorly obsessed with interior design. I originally was working on a kitchen and bath design degree , but quickly realized that interior design is where my real passion lies, I am working on getting my associates in interior design, and as much experience in the field as possible.
Our goal is to someday own a design/ contracting firm. in which I will be the senior designer and Mike will manage, as well as teach our employees and sub-contractors how we like things done (high quality work in an efficient time range). We hope to be starting that up in about 10 years, when we both have more experience, and hopefully some faithful clients.

We live in a 2 story townhouse in eastern pennsylvania, that is in major need of an overhaul. Our blog is our way of documenting the journey of turning this neglected foreclosure into our dream home, "our castle."
